The legacy Themistocles Zammit left in Maltese archaeology is best evident in the work he conducted in the Tarxien Temples. Having already made his mark internationally in the medical field, the Tarxien Temples were the climax of his archaeological career. Excavated this complex methodically, Temi Zammit observed and discovered things that had been hitherto unknown in Maltese Prehistory. Join us for a curator’s tour of the Tarxien Temples on the 8th of March, where the history of the excavation will be recounted, together with how the site was discovered. Zammit’s interpretations of what he found, and how he arrived at these conclusions will also be discussed. Items related to Temi Zammit and his excavations of the Tarxien Temples will also be displayed.
The tour will be held at 10am in English, coffee and tea will be served afterwards to participants. Tickets can be purchased from the Heritage Malta website and from Heritage Malta museums and sites.
